Shock jock Howard Stern is the latest big name rumored to be in the running to take over from Simon Cowell on American Idol . Twas our penultimate tale of auditions on Idol last night, and yet again a woeful menagerie of lost souls flitted across our screens, floating through the thin air of Denver like warbling cowboy ghosts. Aren't you so effing glad that tonight is the last of the audition episodes?? I mean, this is such a good thing.  

Now we all knew Ms. Swift was going to need a valet to help her get all of hers to the limo. She is a true phenomenon and is getting just rewards for making music that millions of people love and want—I'm one of them. But, frankly Nashville has always thrown out a gem every generation or so that reaches dizzying heights.  

The producers of "American Idol" should really re-evaluate that whole age limit thing. Because tonight, Jan. 13, 2010, a 62-year-old man won the hearts of "Idol" fans across America. "American Idol" judges Randy Jackson, Kara Dioguardi and Simon Cowell and guest judge Mary J. Blige hit Atlanta in search of some true Southern talent.

Katy Perry had so much fun as a bitchy guest judge on American Idol she would quit her music career to take the job full-time. The hitmaker filmed her stint as a guest judge on the singing contest last year, following the departure of Paula Abdul . Her appearance aired on Tuesday night.  

Pop star and American idol guest judge Katy Perry did her best at being a catty talent show judge and matched wits with Kara Dioguardi during the auditions for season nine in Los Angeles. The show airs each week on fox and during the auditions on the west coast, the two female judges clashed. Pop Crunch notes: "The girls disagreed over several of the contestants during the L.A. auditions, but things really got ugly when Kara began mocking Katy's breakout hit I Kissed A Girl," the report notes.

So, the Bluebird tweets that American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi is gonna be a special guest at a fund-raiser show Tuesday night for Alive Hospice. But no Kara Dioguardi showed. "Kara had hoped to be at the Bluebird to participate with her friend Jeff Cohen in support of Alive Hospice but as you can imagine, someone like Kara has lots of demands on her schedule. And she's very sorry. Kara definitely wanted to be here," said Erika Wollam Nichols, Bluebird GM.
