With his shaggy red hair, black leather jacket and skintight American flag-printed jeans, Olympic gold medalist Shaun White upstaged even glam Oscar winner Sandra Bullock at a pack of parties around town following the Academy Awards. The snowboarder was one of a group of Olympic athletes who mingled with A-listers at the parties Sunday, sometimes eliciting "oohs" and "ahhs" from the movie stars themselves. Even Olympic-winning speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, who wore a sleek tux, looked happy to meet White.

Haeley Vaughn's comet ride on "American Idol" might be over, but not her shot at stardom. "I'm definitely gonna keep working on my career," Vaughn said Friday in a conference call. The 16-year-old Poudre High School junior was voted off the singing competition Thursday.

B) There's no Adam Lambert , David Cook , Kelly Clarkson , Carrie Underwood or Jennifer Hudson ; compared with these previous standouts, the contestants this season lack that X factor that takes my breath away and makes me root for them. Hell, even those one-name wonders Sanjaya and Chikeze had more charisma. The guys are a lost cause; as Simon Cowell observed, there's a great chance a woman might win.

Crystal happened to be the first up to sing, choosing Creedence Clearwater's "As Long As I Can See the Light" with a church organ.

Renée Zellweger has reportedly been seen out with her boyfriend Bradley Cooper's mother Gloria. According to People , the two were spotted at the Tuesday night opening of Vera Wang's Melrose store in Los Angeles. "They looked like the best of friends," said an insider.

Proving she's still as sweet as they come, PAULA ABDUL spent $1,000-plus on congratulatory bouquets, threw in 15 dozen gourmet cupcakes from BevHills Sprinkles and messengered them to "American Idol" judges SIMON COWELL, KARA DIOGUARDI, RANDY JACKSON and newbie ELLEN DEGENERES. Each package contained a handwritten note from ex-judge Paula, wishing them a fantabulous season on America's favorite reality TV show.  

Wednesday night was the guys turn to sing for America's vote and two will be eliminated by Thursday. The top 12 guys are Todrick Hall, Aaron Kelly, Jermaine Sellers, Tim Urban, Joe Munoz, Tyler Grady, Lee Dewyze, John Park, Michael Lynche, Alex Lambert, Casey James and Andrew Garcia. Todrick Hall is 24 and was once in "The Color Purple" with Idol winner Fantasia.

House star Hugh Laurie will be heard playing piano on the next Meat Loaf album. While the House star is best known for his acting he has had a few music roles over the years. He appeared in the Kate Bush video for the 1986 single 'Experiment IV' and was also seen in Annie Lennox's clip for 'Walking On Broken Glass'.
